The latest addition to my ever-growing Burlesque Costume Collection is this antique set I found on Instagram. Just based on the beading and patina of the pieces, I believe this set to be from the 30's/ to 40's as an estimate.  I absolutely ADORE the sequin & jeweled decorations with all of their intricacies. The piece needs a little love due to its age.  Some of the sequins & beads are falling off and need to be replaced, but that just adds to the overall uniqueness and beauty of these pieces. It never ceases to amaze me just how heavy these pieces are when I receive them! The sheer weight of these pieces alone are worth a thousand words! Since my collection has been growing so fast, I have really needed to do an overhaul of how I store them since it's VITAL to have proper/ safe storage.  Oddly enough I found some amazing sliding storage, canvas containers at Walmart that have a clear plastic cover to see the pieces.  They super cheap, heavy duty and THE...

I've had a lot of fun, lately, going through my closet & collections to find garments I've stashed away. I've been needing a HUGE inspiration fix in the past few weeks while I slowly gain my confidence to take my online business into the Brick & Mortar world.  Every piece of vintage jewelry, clothing, knick-knacks, etc. I've bought gives me fuel to keep moving forward. I want others to feel inspired by what I'm lucky enough to own. I'm scared to death and a lot of times feel the need to quit and stay working towards other peoples dreams.  My need to share with others how amazing vintage can be keeps me going forward. My heart has been skipping a beat since I purchased this piece yesterday. 💕 When I saw this come up for sale on Instagram I about fell of my chair. This AMAZING 1950's Burlesque/ Ballroom gown has it all!  Ostrich Feathers, jewels, sequins, chiffon, EVERYTHING!  Growing up I was always enthralled with ballroom dresses, especially the ones I would see on old episodes of "The Lawrence Welk Show". The swish & airiness of them gliding around on the floor mesmerized me! I would take my mom's long nightgowns and pretend I was swishing and swaying in them. Here we are yet again with the latest addition to my Burlesque Costume Collection 😊 I can't help myself.. I really can't.... I could but I don't want to... Just LOOK at the detailing.... the faux Pearls, Silver sequins, Lurex, Sea Beads! I really believe that these are pieces of art especially because they're handmade!  You can really tell when something is extravagantly made when the sheer weight of it makes you go "Uffda!". I will never get over the pure beauty of these pieces because they really show you the personality of the artist wearing them. My goal for my time currently is go get back into reading a book or two a month. This is something that has been difficult for me since the past two years I've had three jobs at one time. Now I get to (attempt) to relax and Slutever is my way to do it!  I've show this 1950's Burlesque Belt before, but I'm still just as in love with it as ever. The thing I love most about vintage & antique fashion are the intricate details added to every piece.  Whether handmade, designer, or store bought, each article of clothing/ accessories had their own uniqueness.  Take for example the inside of the 1962 dress by Christian Dior. The bodice, boning, lining, all of it is beautiful! The outer shell has beautiful lace detailing that's tattered & worn, but still holds its character thanks to AMAZING construction.  This was folded and placed neatly in the storage room of one of my favorite vintage shops, Revolver. I use this as a display piece and it still looks just as amazing. The necklace below is one that I've never seen anything like it! It's a vintage (possibly 70's/80's) handmade Kuchi Tribal necklace that I found on Ebay. I am OBSESSED with the hearts beaded into the necklace and just the overall detail! The past few weeks I've been attempting to go though and organize everything in my massive closet. I never fully realized the amount I've collected until I tried to carve out more space for everything since we moved into our house. I've always had a huge interest in costumes throughout the decades, but the costumes that interest me most are those worn my burlesque dancers & strippers.  I love the glitz, glam and overall craftsmanship that is shown.  Below are a sampling of some of my favorites that I've acquired so far! How can it get any better than this???  Those who know me best, know I'm an all or nothing person, so when I saw this BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, AMAZING 1950's Burlesque Headdress for sale I HAD TO HAVE IT! Some people invest in Real Estate, the Stock Market, Shoes, etc, but I see the value in investing in history, especially when it comes to pieces like this.  The fact that this has lasted 60+ years and STILL looks new, has me awestruck.   Though my head is too big, my love for this is still strong :) 

I can't quite figure why, but recently I've been gravitating towards bold & exaggerated fashion choices.  Case in point, the outfit below :) The more fabric there is to a piece the more attracted I am to it.  This tulle neck ruffle will definitely be coming out to play more :)  In less interesting news of the day, I'm in the process of packing up my entire apartment and I didn't realize until now how many things I have.... I could probably furnish two houses with all the crap I own.  Just in terms of clothing alone, I could wear a different outfit everyday for a year with no overlaps. I don't know about you, but I feel like everyday should be a day to dress-up, wear weird things, or just be a different style version of yourself. My style is not fluid by any means.  I wear what I want and there's usually never any rhyme or reason.  I go through spurts where I will wear nothing but Black for weeks on end, or I'll wear the most ostentatious vintage blouse or dress. Weird looks and stares are usually waiting outside the door, but as Mae West said, "It's better to be looked over than over-looked". Or at least, that's my motto.
