Giving Good Face

A couple of week's ago, I was having horrible anxiety and needed something to zap me out of it that wasn't a hard core med. For some reason, I thought the perfect thing to remedy that was a trip to the mall... the busy, overcrowded, teen infested, mall.  My anxiety took me to the place in the mall that I fear the most... Forever 21. I used to be a hard core mall rat until I realized I wasn't. I bought a bunch of sale items that I'll post later, but what I really fell for were their Kitty Ear Headbands. This was a trend that I honestly didn't understand until I put them on. They are simply: fucking CUTE! Plus, I have a lot of hair, so it only makes sense 😄 I paired my first Silver Tone pair with a 1960's Scarf / Shawl I bought as part of a Burlesque Costume and I just wrapped it around myself.  THIS COLOR THO!!!  The next pair (I bought 6....) is a Rose Gold Tone headband that I wore with this AMAZING 1960's Maribou Feather Lingerie Coat

Costume & Nude Card Collection Additions

Some of my most FAVORITE things to collect are costumes & Nude Playing Cards. Part of it may be in my upbringing. I live in a highly conservative state, so the female form was something that I didn't see being appreciated as it should be.  My fascination with the female body has now become a collecting obsession!  I have always been fascinated with Burlesque, mainly from past eras. The handmade costumes and elaborate beading always caught my attention.  I don't have a huge collection of showgirl or burlesque costumes, but what I do have, I make count. Below is one I just ordered as an early birthday present and OH MY  am I excited 😊 Vintage Burlesque Costume with Picture of original owner This bra below is not perfect, but no less beautiful.  The expertly place rhinestones tell a story that leaves mystery and tease... the point of burlesque. This piece is obviously not wearable, but I like to think of it as more of an art piece. 1940's Rhinestone S

Closet Tour: Part One

When my boyfriend and I started looking for a house this past Summer,we both agreed we needed a house that could accommodate all of my collections.  The house we chose was built in 1927 and has every little quirk that makes older homes so damn charming!  The upstairs (where my closet is) transports you to the 70's with these black spindles separating the little loft area with an equally kitschy rock garden basket handing over the railings. If you walk down the long, wood paneled upstairs hallway you'll find a little (and I mean little) pantry like door where my closet is located. It used to be a little girls room that looks over the front yard, so naturally I'd take it over for myself 😊 The first picture is the little area where I store all of my lingerie collection new & old. In part two, I'll go into more detail about the IKEA dresser I use to store them! I like to this of this little area as an altar of sorts where I keep my little knick knacks and things

Bettie Page Lingerie Part Deux

This post doesn't really need much explanation.  The Bettie Page Lingerie Line from Playful Promises IS MY JAM. When I found out they were coming out with the two pieces below I about lost my shit 😆 I'm typically a 38C in most lines and that has fit PERFECTLY whenever I've purchased from them. The odd thing is that whenever I see lingerie I like, I always visualize which pair of vintage pasties I need to set them with.... normal right? 😏 I'm also VERY fond of wearing my lingerie as outerwear which is exactly why I needed these in my life. 1960's Burlesque Pasties (just wait for the matching G-string)

Why Don't I Wear These More Often?

The past few weeks I've been attempting to go though and organize everything in my massive closet. I never fully realized the amount I've collected until I tried to carve out more space for everything since we moved into our house. Below are some things I wear ALL THE TIME and others I don't wear enough! 1950's Hollywood Maxwell Bustier via Ebay 1950's Blue Fox Fur Shawl via Revolver The Trapeze Coat below I bought on Ebay for a steal! There's a matching formal dress that goes with it, but unfortunately the original owner did not sub par alterations to the straps that I've been meaning to get fixed. The fabric, beading & embroidery is SO BEAUTIFUL I couldn't pass this up! 1960's Embroidered Silk Tourist Trapeze Coat via Ebay This little cocktail dress below is one I'm too cautious to wear out and about! The silk is so delicate & soft I'm worried I'll ruin it! The only times I wear it are if I know I won't be

A Few of My Favorite Things

I've had some fun lately going through my closet and finding pieces I've completely forgotten about because they get lost in my numerous racks of clothing 😆 This 1940's Cotton blouse below is from my FAVORITE vintage store in my home city of Fargo, ND called Revolver.  I've been shopping there since Middle School & I'm NEVER disappointed.  The owner Lucy was AMAZING and let me go through her backroom where she pulled this beauty with matching skirt.  Let's just take a moment to fully appreciate these buttons......I mean SERIOUSLY! The attention to detail and stunning construction makes this one of my favorites!  1940's Chartreuse Button Up via Revolver Fargo (also on Etsy) First off, let me preface this by saying I have an unhealthy obsession with vintage rhinestones and when that comes to life in the form of a tiara..... well I die.  This is one of the simpler ones that I own, but more practical for everyday wear... at least for me 😁 The dr

Hollywood Maxwell: My Newest Lingerie Obsession

I just recently received this 1950's bustier from one of my favorite eBay seller and I honestly wasn't paying too much attention to label (for once).  Here are two surprises that I encountered after I got this in the mail: 1.) There's a frickin' lace spiderweb design throughout 2.) The brand "Hollywood Maxwell" was first opened in Disneyland....WHAT?! I googled the brand and found two blogs that laid out the very BRIEF history of Hollywood Maxwell who later merged with another brand to become "Hollywood Vassarette", a brand that is one of my favorites. I linked both of the blogs below :) Disneyland's Wonderful Wizard of Bras The Wizard of Bras at Yesterland I had so much fun reading those articles because I had NO IDEA Disneyland has a lingerie shop or "Corseteria" as it was called, smack dab on Main Street! I really makes this piece much more special in my eyes 😍 Up close of the spiderweb design Th

Unoriginal Title: Latest Vintage Looks

Here in lovely ol' Fargo, ND, the weather is brisk (sub zero), snowy (blizzard) and glittering (death ice), but my need to dress up still holds strong 😉 The standard outfit for me, especially lounging around the house, is one of the many 1960's wraps / shawls that I own. This one is Faux Leopard and lined with Black Silk Acetate.  I mean COME ON, does this not scream Marilyn Monroe's outfit in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"? Of course I always have to get my Eyeliner on point aka my war paint 😊 Faux Leopard Wrap via HolliePoint on Etsy Eyeliner via Wet-N-Wild (the best eyeliner in the world)  This 1960's Pink Silk, embroidered robe is something I sought after for awhile and stumbled upon while buying a huge lot of random vintage clothing on eBay.  I LOVE wearing it with my Nasty Gal Bodysuit and some jewelry from my Turquoise collection.
