Giving Good Face

A couple of week's ago, I was having horrible anxiety and needed something to zap me out of it that wasn't a hard core med. For some reason, I thought the perfect thing to remedy that was a trip to the mall... the busy, overcrowded, teen infested, mall. 
My anxiety took me to the place in the mall that I fear the most... Forever 21. I used to be a hard core mall rat until I realized I wasn't.
I bought a bunch of sale items that I'll post later, but what I really fell for were their Kitty Ear Headbands. This was a trend that I honestly didn't understand until I put them on. They are simply: fucking CUTE! Plus, I have a lot of hair, so it only makes sense 😄
I paired my first Silver Tone pair with a 1960's Scarf / Shawl I bought as part of a Burlesque Costume and I just wrapped it around myself.  THIS COLOR THO!!! 





The next pair (I bought 6....) is a Rose Gold Tone headband that I wore with this AMAZING 1960's Maribou Feather Lingerie Coat I bought from Archetype Vintage on Etsy. The theme of today is really just about headbands and vibrant colors 😆
This coat is so unbelievably amazing! I also loved the little freebie they added into my order below. It's a tiny little, refillable perfume vile with a mini funnel. ADORABLE!

My Favorite Things 1.6: Style Icon Edition

Once in awhile I like to post some things that inspire me such as items I've purchased, seen online, etc. Today I wanted to share some of my style icons! What's Behind the Elusiveness of "Plus Size Vintage"?

My main goal when opening my business,  Carmine & Hayworth , was to open the arena of vintage fashion to EVERYONE! Especially those who didn't think vintage was made for their body type (that used to be me). When I started collecting vintage clothing I would collect dresses/ pieces that I WISHED I could fit into because I didn't think vintage pieces existed for someone like me who doesn't have a tiny waist or hips. It wasn't until I really started doing my research that I found a whole new world, of what I like to call, "Size Inclusive Vintage". The One Phrase That Makes Me Cringe & How We Can Change It...

"I love vintage clothing, but I don't know when I'd wear it" Whenever someone makes that comment to me, my heart breaks a little.  The answer is that you can ALWAYS find a time & place to wear vintage!  The key is to have CONFIDENCE when you wear something outside of your comfort zone! Even if you're not confident, FAKE IT! Pretend you're playing a role until that confidence becomes the truth! I grew up wearing things, not necessarily vintage, that always caused people to talk, sneer or poke fun at me.  That's was people do when they don't understand you or, let's face it, life in general.
