Random Mish Mosh

Lately, I've really been embracing my little sanctuary I call my closet.  I'm trying to make it a place where I can go into and forget my worries & life for a bit. It's fun to go in and play dress up like I used to as a kid. 
I love to put on my favorite vintage bustier and whip out my decadent Bettie Page Lingerie Baby Pink, Maribou Feather Robe. The way it feels against the body is too amazing for words 💟


1950's White Warner's Bustier

I was CRAZY excited to find that I was able to combine my love of vintage lingerie with my newfound love of vintage Barbie clothes! Just looks at these little bras & slips! All are from the 1960's and more beautiful in person than pictures. They're so delicate & ethereal that I just want to frame them! 


I usually don't gravitate towards pieces from the 1970's but when I saw that my favorite shop, Revolver, put this on the sales floor it really had me feeling all the feels. My non-vintage loving sister liked it so much too she asked me to snag it for her. The colors & sparkle are MORE vibrant in person and it's definitely an amazing statement top! Plus it's stretchy so..... it can hug the curves properly 😉


I had to try it on for myself before I sent it to her 😉

What's Behind the Elusiveness of "Plus Size Vintage"?

My main goal when opening my business,  Carmine & Hayworth , was to open the arena of vintage fashion to EVERYONE! Savor the Different...

One goal I had when starting my business was to make it very clear that I only showcase things that inspire something in others. Whether it be a mask, glove, bustier, I want a customer or client to feel SOMETHING when seeing a piece I have for rent or sale. If you love an item, hate it, so be it, just don’t be indifferent. One thing I've learned is that to be indifferent to fashion is one of the saddest ways to live. Like Bill Cunningham stated above, "Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life". The clothes I wear, the eyeliner I carefully draw on, the way I style my hair, all of it is to prepare myself for what lies ahead. This may sound shallow or vain, but I do see it as a shield. If fashion armor for you means an audacious Red Maribou Feather coat or your favorite concert hoodie, then by ALL MEANS wear it with intent! Cover yourself in pieces that invoke a REACTION! The One Phrase That Makes Me Cringe & How We Can Change It...

"I love vintage clothing, but I don't know when I'd wear it" Whenever someone makes that comment to me, my heart breaks a little.  The answer is that you can ALWAYS find a time & place to wear vintage!  The key is to have CONFIDENCE when you wear something outside of your comfort zone! Even if you're not confident, FAKE IT! Pretend you're playing a role until that confidence becomes the truth! I grew up wearing things, not necessarily vintage, that always caused people to talk, sneer or poke fun at me.  That's was people do when they don't understand you or, let's face it, life in general. Well guess what? That's NOT your problem! If they don't like it, great! They don't have to wear it! That leaves more amazing clothing for you!
