My Inspiration Lately AKA Things That Get Me So Excited My Asthma Acts Up... :)

I've never been much of a Pink person until the past two years where I've learned to appreciate the simplicity of the color and the many ways it can be represented. This has been especially relevant to me in terms of vintage and pieces I've been hoarding/ collecting.

This 'Ceil Chapman' Ballet Pink, Silk Swing Coat is one of my prized possessions since it is able to, in my mind, transform me and any outfit I wear with the exception of sweat pants.... that would be an insult to the beauty of this coat!

Look at this collar!! I mean, SERIOUSLY, how amazingly stunning is this?! I can safely say that they DO NOT make them like this anymore and what a pity! I paired this with something simple, yet demurely, sexy and of course I mean a vintage bustier ;)  I think anyone would agree that architecture in fashion is TIMELESS.  Something quite lacking in today's scene.

While I love me some vintage, I also have become quite fond of Pink fabrics, in general.  I stopped into JoAnn Fabrics (not sure if that is just a Midwest chain) looking for a new and classic backdrop for my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/HotTrampVintage .  I found this GORGEOUS, again Ballet Pink, Jaquard fabric with a lovely Gold Lurex Embroidered Floral pattern!
I was having an especially difficult Anxiety ridden day and I NEEDED some kind of relief/ distraction.  My Psychologist once gave me this semi-mantra of a Horse finishing a race. What would help this horse get through the race and become more motivated? A bucket of oats, or in my case, vintage.  This is what I strive for every week, so I've found myself repeating that to myself CONSTANTLY even though I'm fully aware that I am not a Horse... This picture above is a pretty concise view of the little things and give me my motivation.  Lovely fabric, a wee little Rubber, Nude Dashboard Doll and a 'Lady Marlene' Overwire Buster :)

Not too shabby ;p

Wear Whatever the Hell You Want

I don't know about you, but I feel like everyday should be a day to dress-up, wear weird things, or just be a different style version of yourself. My style is not fluid by any means.  I wear what I want and there's usually never any rhyme or reason.  I go through spurts where I will wear nothing but Black for weeks on end, or I'll wear the most ostentatious vintage blouse or dress. Weird looks and stares are usually waiting outside the door, but as Mae West said, "It's better to be looked over than over-looked". Or at least, that's my motto. Lately, I've decided that if I want to wear a 1950's bathing suit out and about, I'm going to. I don't live near any lakes or pools, but it's nice to pretend like you do :) 1950's Bathing Suit w/ a 1960's Bed Jacket I'm quite a big fan of Vintage Bed Jackets and it's one of the many things I hoard (collect).  I found this GORGEOUS & PRISTINE Deadstock Bed Jacket from "

What's Behind the Elusiveness of "Plus Size Vintage"?

My main goal when opening my business,  Carmine & Hayworth , was to open the arena of vintage fashion to EVERYONE! Especially those who didn't think vintage was made for their body type (that used to be me). When I started collecting vintage clothing I would collect dresses/ pieces that I WISHED I could fit into because I didn't think vintage pieces existed for someone like me who doesn't have a tiny waist or hips. It wasn't until I really started doing my research that I found a whole new world, of what I like to call, "Size Inclusive Vintage". Living in North Dakota, the world of vintage, especially vintage fashion, could be scarce. I had to SCOUR Etsy, Ebay and wherever I could outside of the state to find these elusive pieces. Once I taught myself how to track these pieces down, I was not only HOOKED, but I felt that I had a whole new appreciation for these clothes. 1950's Knit, Moss Green, Wiggle Dress by "Snyderknit of California Sports

The One Phrase That Makes Me Cringe & How We Can Change It...

"I love vintage clothing, but I don't know when I'd wear it" Whenever someone makes that comment to me, my heart breaks a little.  The answer is that you can ALWAYS find a time & place to wear vintage!  The key is to have CONFIDENCE when you wear something outside of your comfort zone! Even if you're not confident, FAKE IT! Pretend you're playing a role until that confidence becomes the truth! I grew up wearing things, not necessarily vintage, that always caused people to talk, sneer or poke fun at me.  That's was people do when they don't understand you or, let's face it, life in general. Well guess what? That's NOT your problem! If they don't like it, great! They don't have to wear it! That leaves more amazing clothing for you!
