What A Way to Go!

I recently mentioned my new found love for Pink... Pink vintage, Pink fashion, Pink decor, you get the picture! On a recent little buying frenzy, I found myself getting one of those weird, pesky feelings that if I didn't this certain lot of vintage lingerie and coats, I would regret it. I spend days going back and forth wondering if I wanted the investment and I bit the bullet.
In my lingerie haul, I found this STUNNING and ETHEREAL Ballet Pink bustier with cleverly placed little leaf like shapes on the bust. This one is by 'Sears' from the mid-1960's.  Too good not to get! My adventures sorting through the batch I got this in (which I will go into detail on in another post) is one I won't ever forget. Four hours of handwashing, inhaling crumbling padding AKA "Devil Dust" and hoping I don't pass out from the steam is a memory for the books.

This lovely Pink Wool coat from "Angelo" is from the late 1950's/early 1960's with lovely faux pearls and rhinestones sprinkled throughout.  The inner lining is a mind-boggling, iridescent, pearly Pink with duo-chrome Purple accents.  Ugh, be still my beating heart! There are some other stunners I plan to list in my Etsy shop =>  Hot Tramp! Vintage from the mid-1940's that also have some KILLER jewel accents.

Savor the Different...

One goal I had when starting my business was to make it very clear that I only showcase things that inspire something in others. Whether it be a mask, glove, bustier, I want a customer or client to feel SOMETHING when seeing a piece I have for rent or sale. If you love an item, hate it, so be it, just don’t be indifferent. What's Behind the Elusiveness of "Plus Size Vintage"?

My main goal when opening my business,  Carmine & Hayworth , was to open the arena of vintage fashion to EVERYONE! Especially those who didn't think vintage was made for their body type (that used to be me). When I started collecting vintage clothing I would collect dresses/ pieces that I WISHED I could fit into because I didn't think vintage pieces existed for someone like me who doesn't have a tiny waist or hips. The One Phrase That Makes Me Cringe & How We Can Change It...

"I love vintage clothing, but I don't know when I'd wear it" Whenever someone makes that comment to me, my heart breaks a little.  The answer is that you can ALWAYS find a time & place to wear vintage!  The key is to have CONFIDENCE when you wear something outside of your comfort zone! Even if you're not confident, FAKE IT! Pretend you're playing a role until that confidence becomes the truth! I grew up wearing things, not necessarily vintage, that always caused people to talk, sneer or poke fun at me.  That's was people do when they don't understand you or, let's face it, life in general.
