Latest Burlesque Costume Addition

Life's been a wee bit crazy lately, but I thought I'd do a little update on some additions to my costume collection 💗

Below is a full Burlesque Costume (I believe from the 70's) that was handmade & beaded by the original owner. When I purchased it from TiffLittleFingers on Etsy, she included a picture of the original owner wearing/ performing in it. It's so heavy my poor mannequin tilts a bit trying to keep the beauty of it upright!

Beside it is a 1950's Showgirl Headpiece I bought from SimplicityisBliss on Etsy, I'm COMPLETELY in love with it! I've tinkered with the idea of renting out pieces of my collection to theaters or performers, but the anxiety that comes with it may stop me. I would love to see these piece worn again (they're a bit too small for me) but trusting someone with them wouldn't be my strong point.

I've shown these before, but I love how the little rhinestone piece looks like the a little g-string next to the pasties. The simple pleasures in life 💓

My Favorite Things 1.6: Style Icon Edition

Once in awhile I like to post some things that inspire me such as items I've purchased, seen online, etc. Today I wanted to share some of my style icons! I gravitate towards different styles depending on how I'm feeling, but some of my icons will always stay the same. What's Behind the Elusiveness of "Plus Size Vintage"?

My main goal when opening my business, Carmine & Hayworth , was to open the arena of vintage fashion to EVERYONE! Especially those who didn't think vintage was made for their body type (that used to be me). When I started collecting vintage clothing I would collect dresses/ pieces that I WISHED I could fit into because I didn't think vintage pieces existed for someone like me who doesn't have a tiny waist or hips. The One Phrase That Makes Me Cringe & How We Can Change It...

"I love vintage clothing, but I don't know when I'd wear it" Whenever someone makes that comment to me, my heart breaks a little. The answer is that you can ALWAYS find a time & place to wear vintage! The key is to have CONFIDENCE when you wear something outside of your comfort zone! Even if you're not confident, FAKE IT! Pretend you're playing a role until that confidence becomes the truth! I grew up wearing things, not necessarily vintage, that always caused people to talk, sneer or poke fun at me.
