Life Lately....

Have you ever had one of those weeks, where time felt like it stood still, yet flew by too fast? The past two weeks have been exactly that.  We all know the lovely world of adulthood where you live, eat, and breathe work, go to bed, and do it all over again the next day.

I rotate between a few different jobs ( I'm a crazy person who hate monotony) and the past two weeks have be one job after another.  I realize I do this to myself, but in the midst of all the adult hootenanny, I've become more motivated to do little projects, in my off time.  My biggest project was to tackle the hole that is my closet.  My loving and tolerant boyfriend lets me use our second bedroom as a closet and suffers through me using part of his for my store merchandise.  My goal was to clean out things to sell, throw or just plain organize.
My first step was to clean off the hoards of clothing and lingerie I had collecting on my sofa. This is the place where my clothing goes to die (not really, but you get the point) and collects in a pile.  I put my big girl panties on and dove right in.

So when I say this is a sofa, what I really mean is that this is a place where one could sit, but I prefer to display things instead :)  One day I will have a place where I can sit down, relax and admire, but for now, this will do.
My next step was to sort through my racks of clothing to sort what was vintage and what is new, so I could consolidate each on to different racks.  This meant I actually had to take things off the racks and re-sort.

I had to stop, for a minute, and snap a picture of my treasure trove of sequined dresses I've been saving for a special occasion.  When I buy pieces, vintage and new alike, I always save them for when I need them.  That way if I wear a dress even a year after purchasing it, it always feels like something new! These are pieces that I've been saving for such occasions and I can only guess at what fun place I will decide to wear these to :)

My quest in organizing will continue for the next couple of weeks since I'm easily distracted by life's goings on. Wish me luck! Maybe I will even sell a few pieces :)

Wear Whatever the Hell You Want

I don't know about you, but I feel like everyday should be a day to dress-up, wear weird things, or just be a different style version of yourself. My style is not fluid by any means.  I wear what I want and there's usually never any rhyme or reason.  I go through spurts where I will wear nothing but Black for weeks on end, or I'll wear the most ostentatious vintage blouse or dress. Weird looks and stares are usually waiting outside the door, but as Mae West said, "It's better to be looked over than over-looked". Or at least, that's my motto. Lately, I've decided that if I want to wear a 1950's bathing suit out and about, I'm going to. I don't live near any lakes or pools, but it's nice to pretend like you do :) 1950's Bathing Suit w/ a 1960's Bed Jacket I'm quite a big fan of Vintage Bed Jackets and it's one of the many things I hoard (collect).  I found this GORGEOUS & PRISTINE Deadstock Bed Jacket from "

The One Phrase That Makes Me Cringe & How We Can Change It...

"I love vintage clothing, but I don't know when I'd wear it" Whenever someone makes that comment to me, my heart breaks a little.  The answer is that you can ALWAYS find a time & place to wear vintage!  The key is to have CONFIDENCE when you wear something outside of your comfort zone! Even if you're not confident, FAKE IT! Pretend you're playing a role until that confidence becomes the truth! I grew up wearing things, not necessarily vintage, that always caused people to talk, sneer or poke fun at me.  That's was people do when they don't understand you or, let's face it, life in general. Well guess what? That's NOT your problem! If they don't like it, great! They don't have to wear it! That leaves more amazing clothing for you! Savor the Different...

One goal I had when starting my business was to make it very clear that I only showcase things that inspire something in others. Whether it be a mask, glove, bustier, I want a customer or client to feel SOMETHING when seeing a piece I have for rent or sale. If you love an item, hate it, so be it, just don’t be indifferent. One thing I've learned is that to be indifferent to fashion is one of the saddest ways to live. Like Bill Cunningham stated above, "Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life". The clothes I wear, the eyeliner I carefully draw on, the way I style my hair, all of it is to prepare myself for what lies ahead. This may sound shallow or vain, but I do see it as a shield. If fashion armor for you means an audacious Red Maribou Feather coat or your favorite concert hoodie, then by ALL MEANS wear it with intent! Cover yourself in pieces that invoke a REACTION! Disgust, elation, intrigue, and more! I absolutely LIVE for those wh
